  • 24th SOW launches Special Operations Center For Medical Integration And Development

    The 24th Special Operations Wing launched the Special Operations Center for Medical Integration and Development, a program designed in cooperation between the U.S. Air Force and the University of Alabama-Birmingham to develop and provide advanced standardized training to special operations medics. The training used realistic and innovative techniques including virtual reality, field training exercises and clinical hospital rotations to maintain readiness of Special Operations Surgical Team members, pararescuemen and independent duty medical technicians.
  • DOD announces use of masks and other public health measures

    Today, Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III signed a memo that, effective immediately, directs all individuals on military installations and all individuals performing official duties on behalf of the Department from any location other than the individual’s home, including outdoor shared spaces, to wear masks in accordance with the most current Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines.

  • Air Force medics keep Patriot Express travelers safe amid COVID-19

    On November 1, 2020, U.S. Transportation Command and Air Mobility Command implemented mandatory rapid, on-site testing for military and civilian passengers traveling aboard Patriot Express flights departing from Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport as well as Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, Washington. Additionally, all Patriot Express travelers must complete a COVID-19 screening pre-travel questionnaire and complete an on-site temperature check. Based on destination requirements and the number of passengers who already have a valid COVID-19 test, nearly 40-90% of passengers are tested prior to departure.
