Missile Community Cancer Study Current Timeline Graphic
A graphic created in Adobe Illustrator, published on DVIDS April 11, 2024, is a revised version of the first iteration of the graphic which originally depicted the MCCS timeline as it began around Dec 2022; which was initially released via the AFGSC website March 13, 2024. The purpose of publishing this updated version April 11, 2024, on the AFGSC website and DVIDS was to provide corrections and clarity on some text statements that were written in the initial March 13 version. The changes made to the first version that are reflected in this second version are as follows. The end of the first sentence under “June – July 2023” was altered to combine it with the second, now showing, “…within AFGSC; begins combing…”; the word “PCB” in the headline title “PCB Identified & Mitigation Efforts Completed” was changed to “PCBs” to make the word plural and therefore more scientifically accurate; the date of “June 2024” was changed to “Summer 2024” for accuracy; the end half of the sentence under “June 2024” that said, “…a virtual pool of supplemental state and territory registries of cancer diagnoses.” Was replaced with, “…other cancer registries.” for accuracy and clarity; and lastly, the version date listed as “Current as of 13 March 2024” was changed to reflect the changes made between the initially released graphic and this revised version by having this statement be changed to say, “Current as of 20 March 2024”. The updates reflected in this second version (and now most current version) were requested by subject matter experts within the MCCS leadership team and were carried out with the guidance, outlined processes, and release authority of the AFGSC Public Affairs Office, and in alignment as required with the DoD Visual Information Style Guide; DoDI 5040.02, Visual Information (VI); DoDI 5040.07, Visual Information (VI) Productions; and AFI 35-101, Public Affairs Procedures. Missile Community Cancer Study Current Timeline Graphic
A graphic created in Adobe Illustrator, published on DVIDS November 6, 2024, is a revised version of the second iteration of the graphic (DVIDS Graphic ID: 30044/VIRIN: 240320-F-FG097-1001) which depicted the updated Missile Community Cancer Study’s timeline since it began around December 2022; which was initially released online via the Air Force Global Strike Command website on March 13, 2024 and publicly updated April 11, 2024, with the intention of accompanying the latest news article from AFGSC’s Public Affairs Office regarding the recent updates on the MCCS by way of a virtual town hall held Oct. 31, 2024, by AFGSC commander, Gen. Thomas A. Bussiere, with other senior Air Force leaders from the U.S. Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine and the AFGSC Surgeon General’s Office. The purpose of publishing this updated version Nov 6, 2024, on the AFGSC website and DVIDS was to provide corrections and clarity on some text statements that were written in the updated April 11 version (DVIDS Graphic ID: 30044/VIRIN: 240320-F-FG097-1001). The date of “Feb – April 2024” was changed to “Fall 2024”, the date of “Summer 2024” was changed to “Late 2025”, and lastly, the version date listed as “Current as of 20 March 2024” was changed to reflect the changes made between the second update of graphic and this revised third version by having this statement be changed to say, “Current as of 31 October 2024”. The updates reflected in this third version (and now most current version) were requested by subject matter experts within the MCCS leadership team and were carried out with the guidance, outlined processes, and release authority of the AFGSC Public Affairs Office, and in alignment as required with the DoD Visual Information Style Guide; DoDI 5040.02, Visual Information (VI); DoDI 5040.07, Visual Information (VI) Productions; and AFI 35-101, Public Affairs Procedures.
