Air Force Medical Service welcomes 16th Nurse Corps chief Published Aug. 15, 2013 By Jon Stock Air Force Surgeon General Public Affairs WASHINGTON (AFNS) -- The Air Force Medical Service welcomed its 16th Nurse Corps chief as Maj. Gen. Dorothy A. Hogg was sworn in by Air Force Surgeon General Lt. Gen. (Dr.) Thomas W. Travis on Aug. 12 at Bolling Air Force Base, Md. General Hogg actually promoted from colonel after being selected while working as the Air Force Material Command deputy command surgeon and after her predecessor, Maj. Gen. Kimberly A. Siniscalchi, retired. General Hogg's official duty title is Assistant Air Force Surgeon General, Medical Force Development and chief of the Nurse Corps. As Assistant Air Force Surgeon General, Medical Force Development, she establishes new and appraises existing personnel policy and staffing requirements for 43,000 active-duty officer, enlisted and civilian personnel. Her directorate is responsible for all medical force education and training. As chief of the Nurse Corps, she creates and evaluates nursing policies and programs for 18,000 active-duty, Guard, Reserve and civilian nursing personnel. She interacts with Air Staff, Joint Staff, Department of Defense,, Veteran's Affairs and civilian healthcare organizations to ensure the highest caliber of nursing care and personnel. General Hogg earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the University of Southern Maine in 1981 and received her commission in 1983. She received a Master of Science in Public Administration from Troy State University in 1992 and a Master of Science in Nursing from the Medical University of South Carolina in 1997. She is a board-certified Women's Health Nurse Practitioner.
