A 24-inch telescope on a quad axis mount at the John Bryan State Park

A 24-inch telescope on a quad axis mount at the John Bryan State Park observatory is used by researchers from the Electro-Optical Space Situational Awareness Team at the Air Force Research Laboratory Sensors Directorate to measure small amounts of light that scatter back to the telescope from different levels in the atmosphere. Data is collected by a sensor to capture information about atmospheric turbulence, which will allow the team to capture clearer images of objects in space. (U.S. Air Force photo/Bryan Ripple)
