Woodson leaves legacy of a modernized military medical system ready for the future

Dr. Jonathan Woodson, left, assistant secretary of Defense for Health Affairs, speaks with President Barack Obama at the White House. Woodson, who has served as ASD for Health Affairs for five and a half years, is stepping down at the end of April and returning to Boston University School of Medicine. As he moves on from his position, Woodson reiterated it was a team effort that helped him succeed, and in turn, ensured the success of the Military Health System. He feels he’s leaving the organization better than he found it, and his successors will continue in that vein.
