Master Sgt. Steve Simkonis, a 459th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron crew chief, uses a knife to remove a protective plastic seal from the surface of a workbench installed in the garage of retired Army Sgt. Adam Keys’ home in Annapolis, Md., Feb. 27, 2016. Ten members of the 459th AMXS volunteered on behalf of the nonprofit Patriots Honor to unpack, build and install workbenches, power tools and roll-aways in Keys’ garage. Keys, a triple amputee due to injuries sustained from an improvised explosive device explosion in Afghanistan in 2010, intends to use the equipment to pursue his hobby of building small engines and model cars.
