FAIRBANKS, Alaska (May 8, 2007) – A firefighter here uses a triage tag to designate the priority in which casualties should be treated as part of a train derailment mass casualty scenario for Alaska Shield/Northern Edge 07. AKS/NE 07 is a State of Alaska/U.S. Northern Command sponsored homeland defense/defense support of civil authorities exercise; part of the national-level Ardent Sentry/Northern Edge 07. It’s an opportunity to practice responding to homeland defense and disaster events with the federal, state, local & private-sector team.
