Lt. Col. (Dr.) Michael Eppinger, Lt Col. (Dr.) William Clouse, Col. (Dr.) Mark Richardson, Maj. (Dr.) Warren Kadrmas and Col. (Dr.) David Smith (left to right) received the Bronze Star during a ceremony at Wilford Hall Medical Center Jan. 10. The Bronze Star is awarded to military personnel who distinguish themselves by heroic or meritorious achievement or service, not involving participation in aerial flight, in connection with military operations against an armed enemy. The award recognized the five doctors' performance while deployed to the Air Force Theater Hospital at Balad Air Base, Iraq, in 2007. "This is what it's all about," said 59th Medical Wing Commander Maj. Gen. Tom Travis, who presented the awards. "How many people have ever seen five Bronze Stars awarded at once? This shows what's important about this place and what we do." (U.S. Photo by Sue Campbell)
