U.S. Air Force Airmen from the 775th Expeditionary Aeromedical Evacuation Flight offload a COVID-19 positive patient from a C-17 Globemaster III at Travis Air Force Base, California, July 17, 2020. Travis Airmen transported the patient from the Indo-Pacific Command area of responsibility as part of the Air Force’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This transport marked the Air Force’s first TIS mission into the INDOPACOM AOR, and the 18th time employing TIS units to transport COVID-19-positive passengers. Team Travis conducts first Indo-Pacific aeromedical evacuation mission for COVID-19
A 60th Air Mobility Wing C-17 from Travis Air Force Base, California, support a Transport Isolation System operation at Joint Base Pearl-Harbor Hickam, Hawaii, July 17, 2020. A team of Airmen from several commands rapidly executed a TIS in support of a COVID-19 bio-containment aeromedical evacuation mission. This is the first time the TIS was used in the Indo-Pacific area of operations. The TIS is an infectious disease containment unit designed to minimize contamination risk to aircrew and medical attendants, while allowing in-flight medical care for patients afflicted by a disease.
