Jerilyn Quintanilla 59th Medical Wing Public Affairs JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas -- Air Force Surgeon General Lt. Gen. (Dr.) Thomas Travis visited the 59th Medical Wing at the Wilford Hall Ambulatory Center, marking his final official visit before he retires from active duty in early June. Travis paid a special visit to the medical wing May 7 during which he spoke with leaders about some new medical initiatives and processes involving the various clinics in Wilford Hall as well as basic military training. The bulk of Travis's visit was spent viewing various Lean Daily Management (LDM) boards throughout the 59th Medical Operations and Medical Support Groups. The 59th MDW uses LDM as a tool to identify and improve processes affecting daily operations and patient care. Throughout the day, Travis also took the time to recognize some of the wing's most outstanding performers. This is my last official visit as the Air Force Surgeon General and it's not by accident, said Travis. It's been an honor and I know you will continue with the great work you've been doing here.
