Preventive Care for a Healthy, Happy New Year Published Dec. 31, 2013 By TRICARE Falls Church, VA., -- As we count down to 2014, a popular trend is to New Year's resolutions. Some resolutions are physical, like losing weight, while others are behavioral, like 'stop procrastinating' or 'be more positive'. No matter which resolutions beneficiaries make, TRICARE recommends they put their health first and start the year off with preventive care services. Beneficiaries enrolled in TRICARE Prime may receive clinical preventive services from their primary care manager or from any network provider without a referral or authorization at no cost. For those who use TRICARE Standard or Extra or are enrolled in TRICARE Reserve Select, or TRICARE Retired Reserve there are no cost shares for the following clinical preventive services: · Breast cancer screenings · Cervical cancer screenings · Colorectal cancer screenings · Prostate cancer screenings · Immunizations · Well-child visits for children under age 6 For beneficiaries who use in any of the TRICARE Standard options, cost shares apply to other preventive services, unless they're preformed during the same visit as the covered services listed above. If eligible for TRICARE For Life, beneficiaries pay nothing out-of-pocket for services covered by both Medicare and TRICARE.
