Thirty-one Airmen were recently chosen for the world-renowned Tops in Blue team for 2009.

For 10 days, 80 Air Force singers, dancers, musicians and comedians competed for the Tops in Blue slots during January's Air Force Worldwide Talent Contest at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.

Staff Sgt. Naomi Keen, a health services management craftsman in the Wilford Hall Medical Center Urology Flight, was chosen as a vocalist for this year's team.

"I am ecstatic," she said. "Tops in Blue is a great organization."

This will be the second time Sergeant Keen has toured with Tops in Blue. She performed with the group in 2006.

"This time around I will get to help the new people go through it," she said. "Touring with Tops in Blue is a lot of hard work; but, when you love singing and performing as much as I do, it's worth the work."

After completing a training regimen at Lackland AFB, the 2009 touring squad will hit the road in May for a 10-month tour that includes more than 120 shows in more than 20 countries.

"I didn't realize how much music meant to me until I joined the Air Force," said Sergeant Keen. "The military has helped me develop my talent and I'm grateful that I get to use it to entertain others."
