A holiday message from Lt. Gen. Green and Chief Cole Published Dec. 22, 2009 By Lt. Gen. (Dr.) Bruce C. Green Air Force Surgeon General and Chief Master Sgt. Charlie Cole Chief, Medical Enlisted Force WASHINGTON -- As we conclude 60 years of Air Force medicine in 2009, it is time to honor where we've been as we look ahead. The Air Force Medical Service played pivotal roles in early space exploration, contingency responses and caring for our nation's warriors. Our efforts have preserved freedom and fostered hope for millions around the world. It is an extraordinary legacy and has prepared us for an equally exciting future. Whether at home or deployed, your focus on the mission makes a difference in the lives of others. You bring hope to people worldwide and peace of mind to America's warriors and their loved ones. A special thank you to the 1,600 members of the AFMS, currently deployed to 20 countries around the world, who cannot share the joys of the season with their families. Wherever you are, take care of each other. Smile a little more, do a little extra to help someone ... It is the spirit of the season. Be safe and have a wonderful holiday! From our families to all of you -- Our best wishes for a joyous holiday and happy New Year
