Capt. (Dr.) Karen Zabrowski, a resident dentist at the Advanced Education of General Dentistry course here, was awarded first place in a table clinic competition during the California Dental Association annual meeting May 13 to 17.

Dr. Zabrowski was awarded first place out of 44 delegates from the Air Force, Navy and Veteran's Affairs, for her presentation on the removal of "Chemomechanical Caries in Pediatric Patients."

The California Dental Association is the largest statewide dental association in the country and represents almost 70 percent of dentists practicing in the state of California. Each year, more than 20,000 people from the dental community attend the CDA's annual meeting.

This year, Maj. Gen. Gar Graham, Air Force assistant surgeon general, was also in attendance to discuss the status of the dental corps. During this meeting, the association also held table clinic competitions, in which delegates conduct research and make presentations of clinically relevant topics.

Dr. Zabrowski has also been recognized as the top student in the AEGD residency course at Nellis and will be moving to Incirlik Air Base, Turkey this summer.
