Air Force Surgeon General visits Offutt

  • Published
U.S. Air Force Surgeon General Lt. Gen. C. Bruce Green visited the 55th Medical Group here, Nov. 30 - Dec. 1.

The visit included a tour of medical facilities and to inform Airmen of Air Force Medical Service priorities and plans for the future.

"The Air Force Medical Service vision is in continuing pursuit of perfection through elimination of waste and the generation of knowledge," Green said. "We are trying to generate new knowledge in medicine and that is why you (55 MDG Airmen) are so integrated with the community here."

Green discussed the overlapping mission areas of fit force, casualty care and resilient families.

"Our common practice reduces variability, improves organizational efficiency and ensures we deliver the best care across the enterprise," Green said. "Ultimately, through our strategy and common practice, we create the environment and build the culture that will enable us to sustain our high performing patient-centered organization and continue to deliver 'Trusted Care Anywhere.'"

Air Force medics do more than just take care of Airmen and their families at their home station. From deployed environments around the world Air Force medics assist with disaster response, service member support, humanitarian assistance and partnering with other nations.

"What we do with fit force, resilient families and casualty care has now been adopted across the entire military health spectrum," Green said.

Along with Green, the Surgeon General command chief also thanked medical services members for their work in deployed environments.

"Every day we have over 1,300 medics deployed to over 20 countries... taking medical care where it is needed," Chief Master Sgt. Charles Cole, Air Force Surgeon General command chief, said. "We do this to ensure America's sons and daughters have the best level of trusted care anywhere."
