4th MDSS laboratory technicians ace inspection Published June 19, 2012 By Airman 1st Class Aubrey Robinson 4th Fighter Wing Public Affairs SEYMOUR JOHNSON AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. -- Airmen and Department of Defense civilians from the 4th Medical Support Squadron laboratory recently received zero discrepancies and almost no recommendations for improvement on their latest inspection here, June 8. Every other year the College of American Pathologists randomly inspects the base lab. The college gives accreditation to the lab, which allows them to practice pathology and provide patients with results. "I am extremely proud of the laboratory staff," said U.S. Air Force Capt. Kimberly Fisk, 4th MDSS officer in charge of lab services. "Their tenacity guaranteed our CAP compliance and reaccreditation while continuing to provide exceptional service to our patients." The inspection included an approximately 500-question checklist covering everything from their daily quality control assessments to the personal protective gear they use. "I knew we were going to do a good job but a perfect score is a rarity," said Staff Sgt. Jessica Bradley, 4th MDSS NCOIC of lab services. Although they were prepared for the inspection, lab leadership was surprised with the zero-discrepancy outcome. Both Bradley and Fisk said they feel fantastic with the outcome and like a weight has been lifted off their shoulders. The 4th MDSS commander is incredibly proud of their accomplishments and awarded the lab technicians' squadron coins. "There was no doubt in my mind that our lab team would ace this no-notice inspection. They run a flawless operation every day and most importantly, they take great pride in providing the absolute best service to the Seymour Johnson community. They truly epitomize the 4th Fighter Wing mission on target, on time," said Lt. Col. John Ginnity, 4th MDSS commander.
