Richmond Raceway names Maj. Gen. Dorothy Hogg as Honorary Race Official

FALLS CHURCH, Va. --  Richmond Raceway recently announced that Maj. Gen. Dorothy Hogg, Deputy Surgeon General and Chief of the Air Force Nurse Corps, will serve as the Honorary Race Official for the Federated Auto Parts 400 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race on Saturday, Sept. 9. 

As part of her honorary position, Hogg will formally meet the drivers and crew chiefs in a meeting prior to the race and also be introduced on-stage during the pre-race driver introductions.  

“We are honored to host Gen. Hogg at Richmond Raceway for the Federated Auto Parts 400,” said Dennis Bickmeier, Richmond President. “She has made countless contributions to our nation and it’s a privilege to have her as the Honorary Race Official. We look forward to recognizing her service to our country during our weekend of military appreciation.”

Hogg currently directs operations for the Air Force Medical Service, a 44,000-person health care delivery system, serving 2.6 million beneficiaries at 76 hospitals and clinics worldwide. She also oversees the daily functions of the Air Force Surgeon General's office.

“It is such an honor to represent our service men and women as Richmond Raceway’s Honorary Race Official,” said Hogg. “I appreciate the support NASCAR and Richmond Raceway have shown our military over the years. It is my privilege to stand alongside them as they recognize the sacrifices of our service members.”

Since joining the Air Force in 1984, Hogg has commanded at the squadron and group level, served as the deputy command surgeon for two major commands, and deployed in support of operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. During her tenure, she has been awarded the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal with silver and two oak leaf clusters, and the Air Force Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters.
