Col. Lynn Shinabery is the Command Surgeon for Air Force Materiel Command, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. She leads a staff of 28 personnel and is the principal medical advisor to the AFMC Commander supporting all aspects of the AFMC mission and base operational support for U.S. Space Force installations. Col. Shinabery is responsible for promoting the health and well-being of more than 100,000 military and civilian personnel, implementing safe, high-quality healthcare services, and leading execution of the U.S. Air Force Surgeon General’s medical policies and programs for 13 AFMC and USSF military treatment facilities and the 711th Human Performance Wing. She ensures more than 5,500 medical personnel are ready to deploy and able to provide robust medical contingency response, oversees an annual budget of $120 million and a War Reserve Materiel budget of $32 million, and advocates for the delivery of care to 375,000 Military Health System beneficiaries.
Col. Shinabery began her career in the Army National Guard where she spent 13 years enlisted and officer in the Military Police before accepting a direct commission into the United States Air Force as a Public Health Officer. She has served in a variety of leadership positions at squadron, group, numbered Air Force, and major command level. Her deployment experience includes tours in Oman, Afghanistan and Kuwait. Prior to assuming her current position, Col. Shinabery was the Commander, Lackland Medical Support Group, 59th Medical Wing, Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas.
