Col. Tracy Bozung serves as the Commander of the 59th Medical Wing and Co-Chair of the San Antonio Military Health System, where she leads the Air Force Medical Service’s largest healthcare, medical education, and readiness platform. In these dual roles, she directs a joint-service health system with a collective $1.2 billion operating budget while commanding more than 4,600 military and civilian personnel executing a $270 million wing budget. Her leadership ensures the delivery of high-quality, reliable care to over 255,000 local beneficiaries, sustaining 900,000 clinic visits, 19,000 surgeries, and more than 300 worldwide deployments annually. Furthermore, her personnel support an additional 2.5 million patient visits and 19,000 admissions per year at Brooke Army Medical Center, fulfilling a global mission dedicated to advancing medical readiness, executing clinical research, and developing the next generation of Air Force medical leaders.
Col. Bozung graduated as the Distinguished Graduate of the United States Air Force Academy's Class of 2000 before earning her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Michigan Medical School and a Master of Public Health degree from Wright State University. Board certified in both aerospace medicine and family medicine, Col. Bozung has spent her career bridging the operational and clinical missions of Air Force Medicine as a physician, flight surgeon, commander and senior leader. Her career has included service as a senior physician on a Joint Provincial Reconstruction Team in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM and as Deputy Director of the Pentagon Flight Medicine Clinic.
Throughout her career, Col. Bozung has served in a variety of clinical, operational and command leadership positions, including command of two aerospace medicine squadrons and two medical groups. She has led healthcare and operational teams across Air Force Medicine, from the clinic and flight line to the group and wing command team. A Chief Flight Surgeon with more than 640 flight hours in multiple aircraft, she brings a unique combination of operational medicine, command experience and strategic leadership to the 59th Medical Wing.
Prior to assuming her current position, Col. Bozung served as the Deputy Commander of the 59th Medical Wing, Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas.
