Col. (Dr.) Michael Bradley Brough is the Chief of Staff, Air Force Medical Command, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Office of the Surgeon General, Falls Church, Virginia. He directs a staff of 435 personnel in support of the AFMEDCOM Commander as a direct reporting unit to the Chief of Staff of the Air Force and is charged with the establishment of the first-ever medical command. AFMEDCOM provides command and control of 27,000 Air Force uniformed medical personnel and Air Force funded civilians at 76 military treatment facilities. Col. Brough is responsible to ensure efficient operations of the A-staff by providing intent, direction, guidance and prioritization, to implement strategies for executing force development and management, medical operations, logistics and installation support, medical plans and requirements, information operations, force structure and resources, and research and analytics to deliver medically ready Airmen and Guardians, and a ready medical force in support of the warfighter.
Col. Brough commissioned into the Air Force through the Health Professions Scholarship Program in 2002. Since graduation from medical school, he has served as a Resident and Staff Physician, Flight Surgeon and Chief of Aerospace Medicine. Col. Brough has commanded at the squadron and group levels and is a graduate of the National War College. Prior to assuming his current position, he commanded the 96th Medical Group, a 53-bed teaching hospital where he led 1,500 medical professionals, at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida.
Col. Brough is board certified in both Family and Aerospace Medicine. As a Chief Flight Surgeon, he has more than 550 hours in a variety of aircraft, and has deployed four times in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM, ATLANTIC RESOLVE and DEEP FREEZE.
