Col. John C. Davis is the Command Surgeon, Headquarters Air Education and Training Command, Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas. He leads a staff of military and civilian healthcare experts providing strategic planning, budgeting, programming, assignments, behavioral medicine, deployment medicine, and medical policy for 15 medical units with more than 10,000 personnel assigned at two medical centers, 11 military treatment facilities, and a training group. The AETC program is the largest in the Air Force Medical Service and includes 46 graduate education programs responsible for specialty residencies and fellowships for more than 400 physicians and dentists annually. He is responsible to the AETC Commander and the Air Force Surgeon General for the education and training of Air Force personnel in all medical career fields.
Col. Davis received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics in 1998 from Baylor University. He was commissioned in the Air Force through ROTC in 1998 but delayed entry into active duty to attend dental school. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 2002. He is a graduate of two Air Force general dentistry residencies and served as the sole dental provider for U.S. and coalition forces during deployments to Kuwait and Kyrgyzstan. His prior assignments include Deputy Director of a general dentistry residency, two-time squadron commander, and two-time group commander.
Col. Davis is board certified with the American Board of General Dentistry. Prior to his current position, Col. Davis was the Commander, 959th Medical Group, Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, Texas.
