The base conducted a series of activities throughout the day in an effort to promote the physical pillar of the Comprehensive Airman Fitness concept among Airmen.

This CAF day more than 900 participants took part in an obstacle course, basketball with their squadrons, and bowling, in addition to various physical activities at the Pride Hangar and Bellamy Fitness Center.

"Each CAF day focuses on a different pillar of fitness, with this one emphasizing the importance of the physical pillar," said Dennis Wier, 28th Bomb Wing community support coordinator. "The objective ... is to encourage Airmen to adopt and sustain healthy behaviors needed to enhance health and wellness by encouraging Airmen to get outside, be active and have fun."

The day began with a commander's call from 28th Bomb Wing Commander Col. Kevin Kennedy, who reiterated Weir's emphasis on physical resiliency. The colonel also touched on several other topics, to include the wing's accomplishments since the last CAF day, the Air Force core values, the importance of operational security, and the need for Airmen to take care of each other.

Wier said physical resiliency training can help Airmen thrive in their personal and professional lives by equipping them with the knowledge and tools necessary to stay healthy and safe.

"The new way forward in Health Promotion focuses on more of a community approach and a culture of health," said base health promotion program manager, Geri Seal. "This CAF day will truly represent a community of Airmen focusing on a culture of physical activity."

The next CAF day is scheduled for November 2015, which will focus on mental resiliency.
