Residency program provides Airmen dental implant options
U.S. Air Force Capt. Matthew Sherwood, 2nd Dental Squadron dental resident, uses a cast dental impression to demonstrate how a prosthetic tooth will replace the right mandibular second molar and align with the other teeth of the lower jaw at the Barksdale Dental Clinic, Louisiana, April 4, 2019. Dental implants consist of a surgically implanted metal post in the jaw, an abutment that serves as an extension of the post, and the prosthetic tooth and attaches to the abutment piece.
