Magleny Pinner checks the airway of trauma trainer mannequin during an exercise as part of the Sustainment of Trauma and Resuscitation Skills Program held April 19, 2013 at the Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center, Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas. STARS-P training is a pre-deployment requirement for medics and nurses. The annual two-week course maintains critical wartime readiness skills. Throughout the scenario, the mannequin is able to imitate an injured person with multiple amputations, and emulate movement and blood flow. Pinner is a medical technician with the 59th Medical Wing.
