1st Aeromedical Group (1AEG)
Emblem- 1st Aeromedical Group (1AEG) was activated on 26 Nov 1951 at Donaldson AFB, SC and assigned to the Eighteenth Air Force, Tactical Air Command. This was a special unit designed to develop techniques, equipment and standard procedures for forward and intermediate evacuation; to participate in maneuvers; and to train and provide cadres for additional units. It was inactivated on 1 Sep 1954. On 20 Feb 1957, the unit was re-designated as the 1st Aeromedical Evacuation Group and was ordered to be activated at Donaldson AFB, on or about 18 Mar 1957 and assigned to the USAF Tactical Medical Center. The entire organization relocated to Pope AFB, NC on 30 Jun 1957. On 16 Sep 1957, the group absorbed the personnel and equipment from the inactivating USAF Tactical Medical Center. This emblem was approved for use in 1967.
