Medical Service Corps officers are professional health care administrators and executives who play a critical role leading and managing one of the nation’s largest, most diverse health care systems. There are approximately 1,000 officers in the Medical Service Corps serving in a variety of roles.

Mission: Lead the Air Force with professional health care administrators delivering the full spectrum of patient-centered services.

Vision: Premier patient-centered service through innovation and inspirational leadership.

Roles
- Medical Group Commanders or Military Treatment Facility Chief Executive Officers
- Medical Group Administrators or MTF Chief Operating Officers
- Headquarters and MAJCOM Staff / Corporate Office Directors
- Group Practice Management Officers
- Health Plans Management / Patient Administration Officers
- Medical Information Management / Information Technology / Chief Information Officers
- Medical Logistics and Health Facilities Officers
- Medical Readiness Officers
- Resource Management and Personnel Management / Chief Financial Officers
- Within these roles, we support the three interrelated missions of the Air Force, the Military Health System, and the Air Force Medical Service.
Advancement & Continuing Education Opportunities
- Air Force Institute of Technology - graduate and post-graduate education
- Education With Industry - spend up to one year working for premiere civilian institutions such as Johns Hopkins University hospital, Apple and Amazon
- Professional Affiliations - board certification from civilian professional development organizations
Education Requirements
Applicants must have a qualifying or closely related degree from a regionally or nationally accredited institution of higher learning. Acceptable undergraduate and graduate level degrees are generally health care or business related, to include, but not limited to:
