CHIEF MASTER SERGEANT DEBORAH A ALAIMO

Chief Master Sergeant Deborah A. Alaimo is Chief, Health Care Operations for the Air Force Medical Service. She is the senior enlisted advisor to the Assistant Surgeon General for Health Care Operations (SG3). Chief Alaimo coordinates, disseminates, and assists in executing health care policy in support of 40,000 personnel, 75 medical treatment facilities and a $6.4B budget. She ensures a quality, cost effective, preventive based healthcare continuum for 2.6M beneficiaries worldwide. Chief Alaimo develops, coordinates and collaborates with Air Staff, MAJCOM, Joint Staff, SECAF, CSAF, CMSAF, and the Office of the Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs on new health care operation initiatives and policies. She also provides oversight in the development of policies and guidance relating to AEF and MTF operational enlisted requirements and advises SG3 on the welfare, training, personnel development, organizational performance and utilization of 25,000 medical enlisted personnel in 31 AFSCs. Chief Alaimo provides Healthcare Operations guidance to all MAJCOM Chief Medical Enlisted Force and Medical Group Superintendents. She communicates concerns and issues of the Air Force Medical Service enlisted force to the SG3 and ensures policies are known, understood and able to be executed by the enlisted force. Chief Alaimo is the enlisted representative to the AFMS Group and provides technical/operational guidance in place of the Chief, Medical Enlisted Force in his absence. She is also the Associate Air Force Self Aid and Buddy Care Advisor.

Chief Alaimo grew up in Green Lake, Wisconsin. She entered the Air Force in 1984 soon after graduating high school. Her background includes duties in Emergency Services, Education and Training, Ambulatory Surgery, Inpatient Obstetrics, Squadron Superintendent, Medical Group Superintendent, Expeditionary Skills Training, and Command Functional Manager. She is married to CMSgt (Retired) Joel Alaimo and they have three children.
