COLONEL ROBERT J. MARKS

Colonel Robert J. Marks is the Command Surgeon for Air Force Materiel Command, Wright- Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. As the principle medical advisor to the AFMC Commander, he is responsible for promoting the health and well-being of over 90,000 military and civilian personnel, implementing safe, high quality health care services and leading execution of the Air Force Surgeon General’s medical policies and programs for seven military treatment facilities and the 711th Human Performance Wing. He ensures the Command’s 5,000 medical personnel are ready to deploy and able to provide robust medical contingency response while supporting more than 376,000 TRICARE and Department of Veterans Affairs beneficiaries while overseeing environmental and occupational health support for AFMC’s industrial, research, development, testing and evaluation missions, including medical aspects of AFMC’s nuclear and biological personnel reliability programs. Furthermore, his staff promotes career force development and clinical skills sustainment for all AFMC medical personnel.

Prior to this assignment, Colonel Marks served as the Deputy Command Surgeon for Headquarters Pacific Air Forces. He also commanded at the squadron and group level, served one tour of duty in Southwest Asia and is also a Command Flight Nurse with more than 1,000 flying hours.

Colonel Marks was born in Wichita Falls, TX and graduated from Northside High School in Fort Smith, AR. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Kansas Newman College in 1989, and a Masters in Management from Webster University in 1997. He and his wife Kim are parents of three adult children.
