As Air Force Medicine continues to go through organizational change, the MAJCOM Surgeons are hard at work, playing a pivotal role in the Air Force’s ability to stay on the leading edge of Trusted Care healthcare. This month we sat down with Air Education and Training Command’s Surgeon, Col. (Dr.) Gianna R. Zeh, to discuss ongoing improvements, how medical Airmen can succeed, and her personal journey as a leader.
Senior Airman Linda Wilson, an aerospace medical technician with the 99th Medical Operations Squadron at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, was recognized at the 12th Annual Angels of the Battlefield Awards Gala on October 2, 2018 for extraordinary lifesaving efforts during the deadliest shooting in modern American History.
As the Defense Health Agency assumes authority, direction and control of military treatment facilities, the Air Force Medical Service will remain steadfast on its Trusted Care journey towards higher reliability and Zero Harm.
Airmen may need crowns, retainers, night guards or some other form of dental gear. To provide this, dentists take impressions of the patient’s mouth. Once made, they’re taken to the dental lab where the technicians make a mold from the impression. This is the part patients don’t get to witness.

The Shingrix (Shingles) vaccine is currently unavailable at the 377 MDG Allergy/immunization clinic due to a manufacturing shortage. Members can get the shingles vaccine at Tricare covered pharmacies, free at participating network pharmacies. For participating pharmacies call 1-877-363-1303, use Express Scripts Mobile App or search Online. If you have any questions regarding the status of this vaccine, please contact the Immunizations Clinic at 505-846-3101. A notification will go out when the 377 MDG receives additional supply.
In an effort to improve access to care for our patients, the 377 MDG is balancing patient empanelment across Primary Care Managers (PCM). Some providers have too many patients, which can decrease access and limit the PCM's ability to meet demand. Going forward, adult dependents whose sponsor is a flyer will be enrolled to a PCM in the Flight Medicine Clinic, in accordance with Air Force Instruction 48-149, 3.2.1.1. Additionally, all Active Duty members in the 58 SOW and AFRL will be enrolled to Flight Medicine (to include non-flyers and all sub-units). These changes will improve distribution of provider workload, allowing the MDG to better meet the needs of our patient population. Affected patients will still have the ability to book/schedule appointments using the appointment line (846-3200) or Tricare Online (tricareonline.com). The Flight Medicine clinic is located on the first floor of the main clinic, next to the Pharmacy. Concerns regarding PCM changes will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and can be reported to the Health Benefits office (505-846-3335).
If you have a referral appointment in the network, please provide their office with the information below to ensure your notes/results make it back to the 377th Medical Group. Thank you.
