As Air Force Medicine continues to go through organizational change, the MAJCOM Surgeons are hard at work, playing a pivotal role in the Air Force’s ability to stay on the leading edge of Trusted Care healthcare. This month we sat down with Air Education and Training Command’s Surgeon, Col. (Dr.) Gianna R. Zeh, to discuss ongoing improvements, how medical Airmen can succeed, and her personal journey as a leader.
Senior Airman Linda Wilson, an aerospace medical technician with the 99th Medical Operations Squadron at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, was recognized at the 12th Annual Angels of the Battlefield Awards Gala on October 2, 2018 for extraordinary lifesaving efforts during the deadliest shooting in modern American History.
As the Defense Health Agency assumes authority, direction and control of military treatment facilities, the Air Force Medical Service will remain steadfast on its Trusted Care journey towards higher reliability and Zero Harm.
Airmen may need crowns, retainers, night guards or some other form of dental gear. To provide this, dentists take impressions of the patient’s mouth. Once made, they’re taken to the dental lab where the technicians make a mold from the impression. This is the part patients don’t get to witness.

IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR URGENT CARE AUTHORIZATIONS: Effective Immediately. Currently, Dr. J's Express Care is the only Urgent Care Center covered by TRICARE without a referral for our non- Active Duty TRICARE Prime patients. Please be aware that you may still be subject to co-pays. For more detailed information on co-pays visit <<a href="https://tricare.mil/Costs/HealthPlanCosts/PrimeOptions/Copayments>." target="_blank">https://tricare.mil/Costs/HealthPlanCosts/PrimeOptions/Copayments>.</a> If you prefer Abilene Diagnostics or Affordacare, you may still go to them for urgent care needs during duty hours ONLY if you have an authorized referral from the 7th Medical Group. If you choose to go to an urgent care that is not Dr. J's without a referral, you will be responsible for the bill. If your urgent care need occurs after hours, go straight to Dr. J's to ensure your visit will be covered (no referral is needed). *Procedures remain the same for our Active Duty patients; referrals are ALWAYS required for urgent care services, to include Dr. J's. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the 7 MDG BCAC (Beneficiary Counseling and Assistance Coordinator), SSgt Torres at 325-696-6060 or contact Tricare East at 1-800-444-5445.

All other standalone ER’s not associated with a hospital are not covered under TRICARE. The cost of receiving care will be OUT OF POCKET and not covered under TRICARE.
