The Bioenvironmental Engineering (BE) Element offers expertise in the area of Occupational and Environmental Health. BE employs these skillsets in the routine surveillance of industrial workplaces and extends those capabilities into remaining 24/7/365 emergency response-ready in the event of HAZMAT or CBRN related events. BE also provides Quantitative Fit Testing (QNFT) services for gas masks and workers requiring respiratory protection within their work centers.
Quantitative Fit Test (QNFT) Notes for Gas Masks and Respirators: QNFT hours are 1 - 3 p.m. on Tuesdays and 8 - 11 a.m. on Thursdays. Walk-in service is only provided for deploying personnel. IAW AFI 48-137, chemical mask QNFT is only required once per lifetime, upon arrival at the first permanent duty station or upon assignment to a Unit Type Code (UTC). QNFT will be re-accomplished if a new size or type mask is issued, the wearer gains/losses 10% or more of body weight following completion of the initial QNFT, or the wearer experiences extensive dental work, facial surgery, scarring, or disfigurement.

The Buckley AFB Dental Clinic provides all aspects of general dentistry including x-rays, exams, cleanings, fillings, and crowns. Our dentists also have additional training to provide the majority of your specialty care needs including root canal treatments, implant crowns, periodontal surgery and oral surgery to include removal of wisdom teeth under IV sedation. In some cases we may have to refer you to local specialists or specialists at the Air Force Academy for procedures such as implant placement, more difficult oral surgery or endodontic cases, or orthodontics when deemed necessary.
Annual dental exams are scheduled for active duty members through their Unit Health Monitors. Sick call appointments are available on a daily basis for emergent dental needs. Our clinic is only staffed to provide care for our Active Duty population. Dependents and retirees will be seen by local civilian dentists. They are strongly encouraged to enroll in their respective TRICARE Dental Programs.

The 460th MDG laboratory is a College of American Pathologists accredited moderate complexity lab. In addition to basic phlebotomy services, the main lab offers a variety of serology, hematology, and urinalysis in-house testing.

The Buckley Mental Health Clinic includes three specialty clinics: Mental Health, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention & Treatment Program (ADAPT), and a Family Advocacy Program (FAP).
Mental Health and ADAPT provide services to Active Duty members while the FAP provides services to both Active Duty and Dependents. Mental Health’s services include evaluations for emotional and behavioral concerns, treatment and follow-up services through counseling (individual, group, marital, and family), psychological testing, and medication management with an in-clinic psychiatrist.
The ADAPT Program consists of three proactive areas of services focused on substance abuse prevention, education, and treatment (individual & group). The FAP provides assessment, treatment, and referral services to families experiencing domestic violence or child abuse and neglect; they also provide prevention counseling services to include marital counseling and educational groups on parenting skills, relationship skills, emotion management, etc. A Domestic Abuse Victim Advocate is available 24/7 to assist victims in safety planning at (303) 214-0956 and a New Parent Support Program Nurse is available to support families with children under three.

Optometry services offered include annual eye exam, management of eye diseases, contact lenses prescription renewal, special duty exam, Separation/Retirement, and vision screenings. Active Duty members may order gas mask inserts, ballistic protective eyewear and prescription glasses through the clinic. New Prescriptions: The pharmacy only accepts written or electronic (eRX or provider order entry (POE)) prescriptions. We are unable to accept faxes or verbal orders over the phone.
ALL PRESCRIPTIONS MUST BE ACTIVATED! We do not automatically fill prescriptions that were entered electronically by your provider. Whether you were seen at one of our Buckley clinics or off base, the pharmacy will not fill your prescription until requested. This can be done by phone or in person at the pharmacy. To activate your prescriptions over the phone, please call (720) 847-WELL(9355), use option 4 for the pharmacy, then option 3 to speak to a representative. In person, please take a ticket for service.
Refills: All refills must be requested via the automated refill line or through the TRICARE on Line (TOL) website. The number to the refill line is (720) 847-PILL(7455). Please
click here to access the TOL website. Please allow one full duty day for your refill(s) to be processed. Refills can be picked up either at the main pharmacy (Satellite Pharmacy) located next to the commissary or at the ScriptCenter, a vending like machine located between the commissary and BX that can be access anytime during normal BX hours.

TRICARE Pharmacy Home Delivery: Home Delivery is a TRICARE mail order pharmacy benefit administered by Express Scripts. Your prescription(s) will be mailed to your home for little to no cost (depending on your medications). Non-Formulary Medications: Buckley pharmacy, like all Air Force pharmacies, operates from a formulary. A formulary is simply a list of medications that are available to all our beneficiaries. In most cases, the pharmacy is unable to special order medications not on formulary. If you have a prescription for a non-formulary medication, it may be available from Home Delivery. Check the Formulary Search Tool located on the Express Scripts website for availability, and/or restrictions, and co-pay information or ask one of the pharmacy staff for assistance.

Brand Name: Pharmacy will not special order brand name medication when generic alternatives are available. Prescriptions written as “Brand Name Medically Necessary” will be referred to Home Delivery. If medical necessity can be established, the brand name drug may be provided by TRICARE Home Delivery. Copays may apply.
Volunteers: The pickup windows (window 5 &6) and the drive-thru are normally staffed by volunteers. These members are here to help but they cannot activate or process your prescriptions and they cannot answer questions about you medications. Please treat them with respect. If you have a concern, please fill out a comment card or ask to speak to an active duty staff member If you would like to volunteer, please talk to an active member for an application. The more volunteers we have, the smoother everything runs.

Public Health offers services in Food Safety, Occupational Health, Communicable Disease and Deployments. Some services offered include hearing tests, food sale requests, in/out processing for deployments and patient interviews for pregnancy and STD's.
Food Safety: Any food being sold or served requires a food request form be sent or hand carried to Public Health for approval/denial or recommendations. The food request packet can be obtained by contacting Public Health at
Occupational Health: Personnel on the occupational health program are required to receive annual hearing tests. Hearing tests cannot be performed for individuals NOT on the occupational health program unless it is for a retirement, separation or referral from a PCM. These are done on a walk-in basis only, no appointments are necessary.
Deployments: If you are deploying or returning from a deployment, your first stop for medical requirements should be Public Health. This is to ensure proper documentation of required items for or after a deployment. We will also give you any instructions necessary to accomplish those requirements.
Patient Interviews: These are done on a walk in basis. If you test positive for pregnancy or STD you will be referred Public Health by your PCM team. These are considered mandatory walk-in appointments (for Active Duty) and must be completed within a specified period of time.
